Mapping music on Facebook
A lot of people use online music-streaming services such as Spotify to listen to music. Many of them use these services in conjunction with their Facebook account. This way the information about your choices in music is recorded in Facebook’s giant database along with everybody else’s music choices. Stamen Design used the available information from this giant database to make a map. It’s called Beatquake, its shape roughly resembles the United States and shows where a particular song is most frequently listened to. The popularity of a particular song is shown as a peak in the landscape.
