For our online scientific community (http://www.ua-magazine.com) we are looking to hire a talented, enthusiastic and hard-working Python/Django Webdeveloper to come on board as developer of United Academics. The position is perfect for an ambitious coder & developer who would prefer to be a driving force behind innovation rather than someone who looks at a specification and follows it word for word going through the motions.
Web Developer (Python/Django)
You will be heavily involved in decision-making processes, drive the product development and work directly alongside the CTO. Apart from a strong University appeal United Academics works with a number of web services and API’s and the job will involve fresh challenges on a weekly basis. We love trying out new technologies and offering them to our visitors. United Academics is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Personal skills required:
Fast learner – Ready to face daily analytical challenges – Willing to build a career within the company – You are a highly motivated self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision – You don’t give up at challenging tasks – You care about code quality and design and take pride ensuring your code is stable and secure – Personable with great communication skills.
Required Technical skills:
- Python/Django or other web frameworks experience
- (X) HTML
- jQuery/Mootools experience
Nice to have technical skills:
- A strong understanding of Agile techniques.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL / Xapian / SOLR / Nginx / Apache/WSGI
- Database optimisation experience
- SEO implementation experience
- Experience with Google Maps and APIs
