Belgium will begin to ease lockdown restrictions, as the number of new hospital admissions due to Covid-19 continues to go down. Last Sunday, 232 people have been admitted to hospitals in the country, the lowest number in a month. Hospitals also registered a decrease in the number of patients in intensive care units.
Health officials admit that the peak of the disease has already passed and the country will prepare to a “de-confinement” phase. A gradual lifting of restriction measures is scheduled for May 4.
In the past 24 hours, 168 people died from Covid-19, bringing the death toll in the country to 5828. Since March 15, 8 895 people have recovered.
